The interactive cooking sessions last for 3 hours. During this time, people cook healthy affordable meals together and take food home for $1/serving of food. The goal is to show people how to cook meals that cost about $1/portion. Portions are large and most food is able to be frozen. People can order as many portions of food as they want.
The group discusses lower cost food substitutions and cooking techniques that will help them stretch their food dollar. Whenever possible we try to eat locally to save money, and in some areas the groups grow food in community gardens.
NEW! The Vernon Community Kitchen has moved to a new location! We are now at the Kindale Mainstreet Connections office at 3314 – 30th Ave. There are no stairs and it is a great new location for us.
