What do we mean when we say Food Security?

Food security is a complex issue, and it’s different for everyone. In a nutshell, for individuals being food secure means having sufficient access to nutritious, healthy, acceptable food ~ without destroying the land’s ability to produce it.

Food security is also a system issue. Environmental change, decreased access to productive land, economic uncertainty, and social inequality are all factors that can make the food system insecure. These combined factors appear overwhelming, but by making changes now, we can create system adaptations to help lessen impacts.
